Education and outreach
Energy Faculty Fellows (EFF) Program
The 10-week program is designed for Georgia Tech faculty to host a faculty member from a primarily undergraduate or minority serving Institution to engage with energy leaders, build networks, and pursue research collaborations in the energy space. Ongoing goals are to continue research collaborations well beyond this summer with faculty and students carrying research efforts to their home institutions and into the new academic year.
Energy 101 Video Series – A Regional Energy Literacy & Outreach Tool
The Energy 101 video series provides high level as well as regional perspectives on energy systems, resources, economics, policy, and technology fundamentals for a general audience from ages 14 to 114. It builds upon a previous and comprehensive Energy 101 MOOC developed by Georgia Tech’s Strategic Energy Institute and originally launched in 2012. Nearly 100,000 learners accessed the course in the past decade.
EPICenter hosts an annual STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) Whistle summer camp for high school students in grades 9-12, focused on energy. The popular weeklong camp incorporates educational, hands-on activities and real-world simulations of energy markets to teach critical energy concepts in an engaging and accessible manner.
